I was excited about Saturday’s wedding because I was working with the Hoss family once again, and if you know me at all you know I love working with friends and families of previous clients.

My day began at the Indianapolis Hilton to photograph Missy’s preparations.

She’s such a sweetheart, just look at that smile!

One of my favorite parts of some weddings is getting to show off my Engagement Photo Guest Book to the Bridesmaids. It’s so neat to watch their smiles and listen to the comments about their friends:

This next photo is becoming a wedding day tradition: the girls’ mimosa tost!

After leaving the hotel…

It was on to the Scottish Rite Cathedral to get ready for the ceremony:

The Scottish Rite has a very interesting auditorium/stage setup for the ceremonies. Lighting was very nice, and I enjoyed the colors inside, too. After an interesting ceremony…

I was able to grab these two shots, which I love!

Ethan (the ringbearer) was so good all day!

After the ceremony I got just a few moments for some images of Missy and Nigel and the bridal party. It was raining out, so we opted to stay inside and see what we could get. I like the mood of this one:

After a quick bustling of the dress, I did a few of Missy and Nigel with the guys:

One of Missy:

Next it was into the ballroom for the reception:

And after a few toasts…

And laughs…

And a kiss…

Came everyone’s favorite moment, the first dance:

After that, it was PARTY TIME!

Check back in soon for the album design and more!

Just wanted to mention real quick that because of an unusually busy wedding season I haven’t been able to blog some of the projects I’ve done over the summer. The up side is I’ve avoided falling behind on anyone’s wedding!

So, if you haven’t seen your engagement session or other neat-o stuff on here, fear not, because I have a couple of Saturday’s without weddings coming up, and I’m gonna have time to open the floodgates to the blog!

See you soon.

UPDATE: Look for the album design next Wednesday, September 12. It’s taking me longer than I anticipated to finish, but I think it will be well worth the wait! :)

Saturday brought me back to Lafayette, to a church I was familiar with, and to some familar faces as well. Our Groom, Jake Knott, was best man at Dustin Deno’s wedding last year. You may remember Dustin and Lacey from their blog entry last year.

The day began for me at the Poelstra’s home (Dan was up the street at the Knott’s) covering some of Darcy’s preparations.

I captured several images that I’m very fond of:

And one I’m just in love with!

Moving on to the church, Darcy and Jake had planned to do their formal photography before the wedding, so they arranged a special moment for each other first. These always provide exceptional photo opportunties, but this, along with one I used in their collage, is just outta-sight! :)

I hadn’t visited Trinity United Methodist in some time, and I love making use of their front doors:

Just moments before the ceremony, I nabbed a couple of quick candids of some of Darcy’s little entourage. This one’s a little soft, I had to grab it quick, but I just had to share it:

And this one:

Too cute!

Trinity is a tad on the dark side for a photographer’s needs, but the angles and vantage points are photo friendly. Me like!

On their way out of the church I got some very nice images of the two of them, but Darcy’s planning’s what made that a breeze!

One at Darcy’s request, a blast from the past (I did something similar a couple of years ago), and I’m very happy with it. The colors just make it for me, and it’s interesting, because I can already tell that many of Darcy and Jake’s images are going to lend themselves to a de-saturated, monochrome look, but this one just begs for pop!

We had a few minutes to spend with the bridal party downtown, and while I got lots of good stuff, this one is sooo neat, and has that de-saturated look I was talking about. What do you think?

This next one’s something special if I say so my own self! :) In all honesty, I look at this image and I can’t believe I took it, because I just can’t get over this one… Sorry to ramble on, but as far as I’m concerned lighting just doesn’t get much better, and there it was for the taking! Okay, skipping ahead a little bit, I wanted to talk about the toasts for a second. They were all great, but our guys did an especially entertaining job of it! I haven’t laughed and smiled so much for awhile.

I was a little frustrated at one point because my flash didn’t fire for what I felt would be a great image, turns out… who needs flash! Gotta love those happy accidents!

Another from the first dance, This time, of course, my flash DID fire! I like it just as much…

Some more dancing:

And now, TIME TO PARTY! AAAH! ;p

One last quick one…

Well, you might have noticed that I’m just a little slap-happy as I write this… those eleven hour work days’ll do that to you!

Check back for more soon!
