The Second Annual LayFlats Festival was held this Friday and Saturday at the Tippecanoe County Ampitheater. While Friday evening’s events were somewhat subdued by a steady drizzle of rain, Saturday’s activities were celebrated under mostly clear skies.

Since I was also performing with my band, and trying to keep an eye on my daughter, I was limited as to just how much shooting I could do. Also, with an event this size (60 bands, 5 stages, dozens of vendors, etc) attempting complete coverage would take a staff of at least four shooters.

I did manage some good stuff regardless.

Amy Levere, whom I interviewed via telephone during my radio show last week:

Dru from the Statesmen:

The Lafayette Brawlin’ Dolls (well, some of them anyway):

My friend Ryan and his babe:

Richard, another WBAA host and singer/guitarist for the Prannies:

We do it all for the fans! :0)

Trent and the Rippers:

I don’t know who this is, but I was there so I took a picture! :0)

Ah, and what collection would be complete without the Woodstove Flapjacks (as I told Matt, they’re no longer a band, they’re a cult!). This is perhaps my favorite image from the weekend:

Kenny:

Nateski!

Steve of Chemcoma:

And one last one of Tim Brouk of Journal & Courier fame!

Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers for doing such a great thing for the Lafayette area arts and music community! Hats off to you!

UPDATE: Proofs can be viewed and purchased here!

UPDATE: Preliminary album design can be viewed here.

Saturday brought Lanette, Tory and myself up to Valparaiso for an outdoor wedding. I’ve been looking forward to this one, as Kelly and Troy’s engagement session was such a success!

As is usually the case, Tory and I split up for the day, her covering the guys and myself covering the gals.

I began my day with Kelly’s preparations…

I love the dress, very elegant with nice, subtle detailing…

It was soon time to depart for the park…

… In the limo…

…where Kelly apparently had a little paperwork she had been putting off! :0)

Kristen was a riot, of course…

… and soon had everyone laughing (myself included)!

The ceremony site at Deep River County Park was lovely…

… and even though it was sunny and hot, Kelly radiated and Troy was all smiles!

You have no idea how hard it was to get a decent photo of Monty!!!

Just a little fun afterwords…

Next it was on to The Avalon Manor for the reception. A great facility, but I have time for just a couple of details:

Speaking of details, this next one is almost sure to make the album design:

And just a couple more tidbits for now…

So make sure and check back in soon, Tory got some awesome stuff, too, and the album design will be up here before you know it. Thanks again to everyone for making our day a great one! See you soon!

Dave

What better way to try out my newest hand-painted background than with the two best-looking models of all? :0)

Taking her picture is also one of the only ways I know of to get Tennessee to let mom put her hair into buns…
